1,000 Essential English Words

with Hindi Meaning, Pronunciation & Example Sentences

PDF ebookEnglish + Hindi1,000 words40 topicsReview exercises

Who it’s for

Beginners and lower-intermediate learners who understand far more Hindi than English and want a solid base of words they will actually use — at home, at work, in shops and online.

What’s inside

  • 1,000 high-use words, grouped into 40 topics such as daily life, education, work, health, shopping, technology and travel
  • The Hindi meaning next to every word, so you never have to stop and look something up
  • Pronunciation written in Hindi script, so you can say a word correctly before you have heard it
  • One example sentence per word, showing how it is used in real English
  • Review exercises at the end of each topic to check what has stuck

How to get the most from it

Take one topic every day or two. Say each word aloud, read its sentence, then write one sentence of your own about your life. At that pace the forty topics fit comfortably into about two months.

  • A simple daily practice method with speaking activities
  • A progress tracker so you can see how many situations you have covered

How to get the most from it

What’s inside

  • 18 chapters covering all 12 tenses, each with clear explanations and examples
  • Visual timelines and side-by-side comparison tables for the tenses people confuse most
  • Spelling rules for -s, -ing and -ed, and the three ways to talk about the future (will, going to, present continuous)
  • Related grammar that depends on tense: modal verbs, conditionals, passive voice, WH-questions, question tags and reported speech
  • Exercises throughout, a 30-question final review test and a full answer key
  • A one-page summary of all 12 tenses and a list of 100 irregular verbs

Shop questions

Before you buy

What format are the ebooks in?

Each one is a PDF. It opens on any phone, tablet or computer, and you can print pages for your own study.

How do I pay from India?

Use the Buy Now (India) button. It opens the ebook on HindiNotes, our sister site, where you pay in rupees with Indian payment methods such as UPI and Indian cards — the exact options are shown at checkout.

I live outside India. How do I buy?

Use the Buy Now (International) button. It opens the Evavel international store, where you pay in US dollars with an international card.

Why are there two different buttons?

The Indian checkout works in rupees and does not yet accept cards issued abroad, so international buyers use a separate store. The ebooks are the same; only the checkout differs. We show the button that suits your location first.

When do I get the ebook?

Straight after payment: the store gives you a download link. India buyers can also follow HindiNotes’ how-to-download guide.

Will the free notes on this site stay free?

Yes. Every lesson, quiz and tool on English Notes stays free with no sign-up. The ebooks are an optional extra for people who prefer one complete, offline book on a topic.

Can I share the PDF or use it with my class?

Each copy is for the buyer’s own study, so please don’t forward or upload it. Teachers who would like to use an ebook with a class can write to hello@englishnotes.net.

I had a problem with payment or the download. What now?

Email hello@englishnotes.net with the ebook name and your order details and we’ll sort it out. India orders also follow HindiNotes’ refund and returns policy.

Prefer to keep learning for free?

Everything on English Notes is open to read — grammar, vocabulary, speaking, writing and exam prep, with quizzes to test yourself.
